Carol Williams (MSc, BA [Hons], RGN, RSCN, RNT), Head of Nursing & Quality
Carol is a registered nurse (adult/children) and a qualified teacher. She had a long career in children’s nursing career at the Evelina Children’s Hospital in London, before moving to the Healthcare Commission and Care Quality Commission, where she developed her knowledge of quality improvement. Carol’s clinical career was in children’s critical care, but she has held educational and managerial roles, including Lecturer in Biological Sciences, Head of Service for Children’s Cardiology and Acting Head of Nursing for the Evelina Children’s Hospital. As Consultant Nurse for children’s critical care, she led the development of the Retrieval Advanced Nurse Practitioner role.
Her experience includes leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams, developing service strategy and quality improvement. Carol has sat on national inquiries and international nursing groups, influencing policy and practice. Currently, she represents the Royal College of Nursing on NHS England and Health Education England groups looking at workforce issues and advanced clinical practice.
